Standard Policies
Turnaround on sheep hides can be up to a year. We try to return within 4-5 months, but due to alternatives in the industry going out of business, we have experienced periods of high volume. Therefore, we can not guarantee turnaround times. Return time depends heavily on the time of year received and volume of hides received ahead of your order. You will receive your hide/hides back!
There will be a $5 extra charge for fleshing and/or salting where necessary on poorly prepared hides. A $25 storage and handling fee will be applied for frozen or salt dried hides that are not completed in our process at the request of the customer. A $30 per hour fee will be applied to orders that the customer requests us to find and return. This is due to the high volume and sheer numbers of hides that have to be searched through, codes identified, and extractions made from the bin storage facility.
Please do not send badly felted hides. These will be returned at your expense. Excessive matting will be charged extra for the additional combing it requires to finish these type hides.
I am accepting Angora goats and baby Llamas for processing.
I do not accept mature Llamas or any size Alpaca. The matting in the hair does not yield a quality product.
Wholesale pricing is available for orders of 20 hides or more. If you pickle your own skins, I will work out a price based on how well they are pickled.
50% down payment sent with all orders. This is about $20 per sheep hide. Orders received without down payment will be subject to UPS COD charges on return. High Insurance Value on return shipping upon owner's request ONLY. Owner must declare value. Cost of insurance is $.35/$100 value. If no insurance is requested, Lonestar Wool & Fur will apply a $100-$200 claim value ONLY. Lonestar Wool & Fur will not be held responsible for damage or loss incurred during shipping.
Mastercard and Visa payments accepted with a signed note with the card number and expiration date on it.
Due to the critical importance of factors involved in the harvesting of an animal, the preparation of the hide prior to sending it to me, and the shipment of hides to and from the tannery, ALL TANNING IS DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
